Terms of use

Last updated 26 July 2026 · Governed by the laws of Québec, Canada

Plain language first: this is a personal blog about online casinos. You cannot gamble here, I do not take your money, and everything on the site is one person’s opinion and research. Use it as a starting point, not as instructions.

1. Who runs this site

First Deposit is written and operated by Alex Bennett in Montréal, Québec. Contact details are on the contact page. By using the site you accept the terms below. If you do not accept them, please stop reading and close the tab, no hard feelings.

2. You must be old enough to gamble where you live

This site is intended for adults of legal gambling age in their own province or territory: 18 in Québec, Alberta and Manitoba, 19 everywhere else in Canada. If you are younger than that, this site is not for you.

3. What this site is not

  • It is not a casino. No games are offered here and no bets can be placed here.
  • It is not financial advice. Gambling is entertainment that costs money, not an investment or a source of income.
  • It is not legal advice. Whether you may legally use a particular casino depends on where you live, and I am not a lawyer.
  • It is not a tipster service. No strategy on this site or anywhere else changes the mathematics of a casino game.

4. Accuracy, and the limits of it

I check what I publish and I link to sources so you can check me. But casinos change their bonuses, limits, payment methods and terms constantly, and often without announcing it. A figure that was right on the day I published may be wrong by the time you read it.

Always confirm the current terms on the operator’s own site before you act on anything you read here. If you find something out of date, please tell me and I will correct it and say that I did.

5. Affiliate links

Some links to casinos earn this site a commission. It costs you nothing and it does not change what you are offered. The whole arrangement, including what it does not buy, is set out on the affiliate disclosure page.

6. Links to other people’s sites

Where I link to a casino, a regulator, a review platform or a support service, I am pointing at something I found useful. I do not control those sites, I am not responsible for their content, and their terms and privacy policies apply once you arrive.

7. Your own legal situation is yours

Online gambling law in Canada varies by province, and several of the casinos discussed here hold offshore licences rather than Canadian provincial ones. It is your responsibility to know what is permitted where you live and to comply with it. I explain the difference as clearly as I can, but I cannot make that decision for you.

8. Content and copyright

The writing, photography, layout and code on this site are mine, except for screenshots of casino websites, which are used to illustrate and criticise what those operators publish. Trademarks and logos shown belong to their owners.

You are welcome to quote a paragraph or two with a link back. Please do not copy whole pages. If you want to republish something properly, ask me and the answer will probably be yes.

9. Using the site fairly

Do not attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site, scrape it at industrial volume, or use it to distribute anything unlawful. That is the entire list.

10. Liability

The site is provided as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for gambling losses, for decisions made on the basis of information here, or for anything that happens to you at a third-party casino. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

To be blunt, because it matters more than the paragraph above: if you lose money gambling, that is the product working as designed, and no review site is going to get it back for you. What I can do is point you at the complaints process if a casino has actually broken its own rules.

11. Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Québec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of Québec have jurisdiction.

12. Changes

I may update these terms. The date at the top of the page shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version.

We use cookies. This site uses cookies to remember your choices and to see which pages people find useful. Some are set by partners when you follow a link to a casino. You can accept them, or keep only the ones needed to make the site work. Read the cookie policy.
